Do You Mind Waiting?

Lately God has been encouraging me on the blessing in 'waiting' ... waiting for a job, waiting for the right person to marry, waiting for prayers to be answered ... waiting, waiting, waiting!  This morning I prayed, Open my eyes to see You, open my ears to hear You, and expand my heart to understand You.  In this season of waiting God seems to be quiet, and I often wonder if I've missed Him.  This afternoon I stopped by Starbucks to grab a coffee and sit and work for a few hours.  When I ordered my drink, the woman who took my order asked me, "Do you mind waiting for two minutes while it brews?" I said, "Of course not!".  I thought to myself, Why would I mind waiting for the very thing I came here to obtain, and enjoy? When I stepped up to pay, the cashier immediately said with gusto, "I'm not going to charge you since you're willing to wait."  So I stepped aside for the two minute wait.  Waiting didn't seem like a bother to me, especially since I had other things I could do during the waiting process.  About 15 seconds later I was handed my beverage with a smile and a "Thank you!".  And as I received my complimentary coffee, I realized that this is the blessing in waiting: we typically don't have to wait as long as anticipated, and in doing so we obtain the exact thing for which we are willing to wait.  Not to mention that we get God's best, just as I got the coffee that was fresh, and best.  The question today is ... are you willing to wait?  If so, then just know, there is a blessing in waiting!  They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 JPS

"But they who trust [wait] in the Lord shall renew their strength as eagles grow new plumes: they shall run and not grow weary, they shall march and not grow faint."
